terryd 8,993
The dog has been marking lots of cover and holes of late and getting no reward for his efforts other than getting called away since the season ended. So I felt he needed a little bit of success to keep his marking going. I new of a little bit of wood where there was a good chance of seeing a nice size rabbit sitting out and with luck he could preasure it to ground. So up at 6 this morning after not being able to sleep as I was actually excited to be getting out. I am marching towards 50 I really should grow up Typically as we got into the field not a rabbit to be seen lol so we hopped into the cover and straight away he was on a line and off he went. The rabbit hopped up and they went out of site. By the time I caught up he was out in the field casting about in the middle of a load of young cows. All them horns heading his way didn't look very safe but luckily he hopped back in the wood and followed the line to a nice set of holes and gave a mark. I collared my old jill up and in she went. The dog was on high alert spectators all was quiet for a minute or two then there was a cracking rumble which is the sound we all love and bang it was in the net. We packed up and kept in the wood to lose the crowd of followers when we got out into the field I could see another couple of rabbits sitting out further down but it was mission accomplished so back to the car Back by 7 and slapped a bara brith in the oven Edited May 7, 2016 by terryd 4 Quote Link to post
